The Minneapolis Marathon will be my 28th Marathon! What better way to celebrate the 28th time I've run 26.2 miles, than to run and raise money for student travel? The experience of travel is an education that cannot be duplicated in an academic environment. There is so much to learn about where other people live, how they live, what our country (and other countries) have to offer, that the best way to expand young minds is to live 'in the moment' and 'in the location.' The SYTA Youth Foundation provides the mechanism for young people that could not participate in educational travel, to be included and get the same eye opening experiences as those more fortunate students that they associate with on a daily basis.


In 1997 I ran to raise money for the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital and it was one of the most rewarding experiences that I've had. In 2012 I'll join with others that will be tackling the hills of Mineapolis to raise money for SYF scholarship programs. Thank you for supporting SYF, and me, as I take that first step toward my 28th marathon.
